SCORPIO digital finisher

Have a digital printer but can’t do durable outdoor labels?

We have this solution for you called SCORPIO it’s a digital laminator, cutter, slitter finisher that can make any size or shape labels from low cost uncut roll.

It is particularly aimed for use with MEMJET type printers which are low cost per print, and even lower cost when using plain uncut roll, then the SCORPIO makes the printed rolls to labels.  So from low cost roll you can print / make any shaped labels you need without needing to buy die-cut labels or pay for any tooling.

By adding a laminate before cutting then SCORPIO adds extra durability for outdoor use with sunlight protection and weather proofing extending label life. The laminate can be chosen for example to add a gloss finish to otherwise mat finish labels allowing lower cost materials to be used.

Its’ a real ‘ belt and braces’ way of making very durable labels.

• Reduce costs by only needing low cost uncut self-adhesive roll 216mm wide.
• Print your labels images using you digital printer with a small 5mm black square alongside each image or row of images and use a powered rewinder (we offer if you don’t already) to make a printed roll.
• We recommend using BarTender software we normally supply to import label artwork and add the black mark and a cut line but SCORPIO can work with other software that can separate the cut line that is transferred to SCORPIO.
• Put the printed roll on the SCORPIO and start the machine.
• Working left to right as per the picture the SCORPIO will first apply a 20 micron clear pp self-adhesive laminate to the roll with pressure roller to smooth out any bubbles.
• The central cutter section has a camera that will then detect the 5mm square mark position and then cut out the label or labels in that row to the exact shape of the cut line(s) any shape or size can be cut.
• The tensioner rollers cause drag on the material as it is pulled onto the finished winder at the far end to create a nice tight finished cut label roll, meantime the cut waste is wound up on that high waste rewind unit shown.
• If there are more than one image in a row across the roll then SCORPIO has a slitter section to automatically slit and separate the finished rolls before winding them.

= 1.5p per label

Purchasing the same labels as pre-cut from a converter can cost between 3 to 4 p depending on quantity but please check your own paid prices so the system can half the cost of labels.  Prices of pre-cut labels can vary with size and quantity ordered whereas with SCOROPI the price is constant and more controlled.

For ‘belt and braces’ durability results we show the quite lamination roll at £117 .25 for 762 Metres that is 14514 labels of the size 3 x 4 laminated = £0.008 or

0.8 of a penny to get a laminated finish.
